MAP TRAVELER
http://maps.nationalgeographic.com/maps
I’m in love with Maps. For much of my life I’ve been a “map traveler”, spreading out a world map and looking with wonder at exotic places like Kathmandu, Kandahar and Srinigar, longing to go there.
One of the greater delights in my life has been meeting people from some of my “special” places and actually visiting a few of them!
Maps seem like the perfect addition to almost any room. They are great for a bathroom where we are sitting still, a dining room where conversations about the world can happen, or especially, the TV room where the world comes to us.
When I’m on a cross-country trip, you can keep your GPS but let me spread out my map and get lost in it. How better to explore that little town that might end up in a memory?
I’ve created this special page on my Blog, for Map lovers like myself. I’ve not used GoogleMaps because I feel Google is already too intrusive in our lives. I don’t have much evidence, just hearsay, but my maps are compliments of National Geographic. Not that they are perfect examples of humility, but who is?
One more way that I like to travel the world using maps is to pray for people I know in each country and city. It is a thrill for me to know the names of people in remote areas of the world and to offer a prayer for them while looking at their land!
Check out the Interactive Map at the top and get traveling!
